Years ago when I was painting a lot of scarves I wanted to do something with the products that meant something.
I truly believe in the power of other forms of healing, whether it be color, texture, etc. I started a line called “Caring Silks” to help woman who were cancer patients.
People would commission me to make scarves that reflected the person’s favorite things and colors. A percentage of the proceeds went to the Cancer Foundation.
I later heard heart warming stories from the patients; “The day I received news of a marrow transplant donor I was wearing the scarf you made for me,” “my mother who has Alzheimer’s put your scarf on one day and didn’t want to take it off, it gave her such joy,” etc. Now that I am starting to paint again this is a line I want to recreate.
